Students Step Up to Help Facilitate Clinical Skills Session

The word Kudos surrounded by stars

When Stacie Jhaveri, MD, Clinical Assistant Professor of Ob-Gyn & Reproductive Biology, found herself without help at the last minute to teach a clinical skills session for second-year students, three CCLCM students stepped up.

With less than a week’s notice, Metabel Markwei (’22), Stephanie Njemanze (’23) and Surabhi Tewari (’23) volunteered to help Dr. Jhaveri facilitate the session, which focused on performing pelvic and breast exams. In addition to teaching their underclassmen how to perform breast exams, the students facilitated an activity around trauma-informed care and inclusive language, complete with a dynamic visual presentation.

“Again, the students pulled together this educational activity with less than a week’s notice,” says Dr. Jhaveri, adding, “I was overwhelmed and so pleased with what I think was an impactful, educational experience thanks to these students.”
