Cleveland Clinic’s Center of Excellence Program is now offering access to complex cardiac surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Heart & Vascular Institute for select employers of IndusHealth, a medical travel program administrator, at little to no cost.

For 24 consecutive years, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Cleveland Clinic’s heart program No. 1 in the nation for cardiovascular care.

Cleveland Clinic Center of Excellence Program marks the first domestic and only provider for cardiac surgery for IndusHealth’s medical travel program. IndusHealth will offer access to cardiac surgery through this program to approximately 200,000 insured lives.

“We are proud to welcome IndusHealth to our Center of Excellence Program for cardiac surgery,” said Dr. Lars Svensson, M.D., Ph.D., chairman of Cleveland Clinic’s Sydell and Arnold Miller Heart & Vascular Institute. “This relationship will allow us to provide access to high-quality heart care to the company’s employers and their families, in a cost efficient way.”

The Cleveland Clinic’s Center of Excellence program works with companies to develop innovative solutions that provide their employees with high-quality healthcare while also managing costs. Programs like Cleveland Clinic’s Center of Excellence program bring employers and leading hospitals together to help keep costs down through better outcomes and bundled pricing – a single payment that covers a patient’s specific treatment over a period of time – while giving employees greater access to the best possible care. Cleveland Clinic pioneered this type of agreement with several large, self-funded employers beginning in 2010.

“Employers have come to rely on IndusHealth to provide desirable medical travel options with the best combination of quality and cost. We are excited to expand upon our pioneering role in the industry by partnering with Cleveland Clinic to offer a compelling option for cardiac procedures.” said Tom Keesling, President of IndusHealth. “This extends the proven cost-containment benefit offered by our program, while providing participants affordable access to the leading heart program in the U.S. with outstanding outcomes, quality of care, and extensive experience in managing the unique needs of medical travel patients.”

Employers contracting with IndusHealth will also have access to cardiac surgery and other complex heart services for pediatric patients provided by Cleveland Clinic and Boston Children’s Hospital, as part of the recently formed network of Pediatric Care providers.

Cleveland Clinic and Boston Children’s Hospital came together in 2017 to offer complex pediatric heart services through Cleveland Clinic’s national cardiac surgery network. Employers and their eligible members enrolled in this program have the ability to receive care at Boston Children’s Hospital, the nation’s #1 ranked pediatric hospital (U.S. News & World Report) for the last five years. Eligible plan members will have a medical record review by a committee of physicians from both Cleveland Clinic and Boston’s Children’s Hospital to create a patient care plan and identify the team that best benefits patients and their families.
