Cleveland Clinic Appoints Meredith Foxx as Executive Chief Nursing Officer

Cleveland Clinic has named Meredith Foxx, MSN, MBA, APRN, Executive Chief Nursing Officer (ECNO) of its Stanley Shalom Zielony Institute for Nursing Excellence, effective immediately. Foxx has served as interim ECNO since June 2020 when Kelly Hancock, DNP, RN, NE-BC, FAAN, was appointed Chief Caregiver Officer after leading the institute for more than 10 years.

In this role, Foxx will oversee the practice and education of more than 28,000 nurse caregivers, including advanced practice registered nurses, nurse leaders, registered nurses and nursing support staff who comprise Cleveland Clinic’s Zielony Nursing Institute.

“Meredith is an accomplished and well-respected leader within our organization,” said Hancock. “She is dedicated to nursing excellence and will continue to build on our reputation as one of the top nursing organizations in the country.”

Foxx joined Cleveland Clinic as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in 2004. In her most recent role, she served as Associate Chief Nursing Officer of Advanced Practice Nursing and Nursing Quality & Practice. Additionally, she has led nursing quality and practice integration into Cleveland Clinic’s newly-acquired hospitals.

Foxx is a member of several prominent national nursing and leadership organizations, including the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses, the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses and is the past secretary of the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses. She holds a dual certification as a clinical nurse specialist and as a nurse practitioner in pediatrics.

Foxx earned her Master in Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University as well as a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania.
