Cleveland Clinic Florida welcomes Amir Behdad, MD, MBA, as Regional Institute Chair, Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, and Department Chair of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Weston Hospital.

Upon earning his medical degree at Shahid Beheshti University in Iran, Dr. Behdad completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at Harvard Medical School, followed by a general surgery internship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He completed his anatomic and clinical pathology residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He went on to complete two fellowships at the University of Michigan, in hematopathology and molecular genetics pathology.

Dr. Behdad is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, hematopathology and molecular genetic pathology. He has lectured both nationally and internationally and has published close to 70 peer-reviewed articles and several book chapters. His clinical interests include: hematologic disorders; hematologic malignancies; leukemia; lymphoma; and molecular markers of solid tumor.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Florida, Dr. Behdad was staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago where he also served in a variety of leadership positions including Director, Cancer Molecular Diagnostics, and Medical Director, Referred Testing. In his ongoing dedication to teaching, Dr. Behdad was also Associate Professor of Pathology and Medicine (Hematology and Oncology) and Program Director for Hematopathology Fellowship at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine.

Dr. Behdad holds professional memberships and leadership role in the following: College of American Pathologists; American Society for Clinical Pathology; Association for Molecular Pathology; United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology; American Association of Physician Leadership; and Society of Hematopathology.
