DOVER, Ohio — Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital is set to invest $7 million in its radiation oncology services, marking a major enhancement in cancer care for the Tuscarawas Valley. The Ohio General Assembly has demonstrated its support for the project by approving $1 million for the upgrade.

The project, due to begin later this year, will involve the installation of new radiation therapy equipment in the hospital, with the enhanced facility projected to open in 2025.

Union Hospital worked closely over the past year with State Senator Al Landis and State Representative Brett Hillyer to support the inclusion of these funds in HB 2.

During this transition period, patients will have access to radiation oncology services at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital. Infusion therapy treatments and care provided by Tri-County Hematology & Oncology Associates at Union Hospital will continue as usual and are unaffected by the ongoing project.

“This investment is part of Union Hospital’s long-term strategy to enhance access to care for the residents of the Tuscarawas Valley,” said Thomas J. Rogers, M.D., Vice President South Submarket and Chief Medical Officer of Union Hospital. “We appreciate the support from the state of Ohio and look forward to embarking on this project.”
