Guzman, M.D., president of Cleveland Clinic’s Northeast Ohio Market; and Joseph Knapp, M.D., medical director of Cleveland Clinic's West Region primary care institute.

Cleveland Clinic has opened a new urgent care and outpatient care facility in Avon, Ohio. The new facility, located at 1813 Nagel Road, is an additional option for patients who have urgent medical needs that don’t require an emergency department visit. The location also creates more capacity for primary care services.

“We are committed to addressing the healthcare needs of the communities we call home,” said Neil P. Smith, D.O., president of Cleveland Clinic’s West Submarket. “This new facility will allow us to serve more patients close to where they live and expand their access to urgent and primary care.”

The updated space, which includes 14 exam rooms and X-ray capabilities, was previously a medical facility and has a layout that’s conducive to primary and urgent care visits. Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital and Richard E. Jacobs Health Center are nearby and offer additional imaging such as ultrasound and MRI.

“A primary care provider can help patients detect and manage a range of health issues,” said B. Bryan Graham, D.O., chair of Urgent and Express Care at Cleveland Clinic. “Sometimes, an individual’s needs are more immediate, which is why it's important to have an urgent care option.”

Cleveland Clinic has several emergency departments, express care locations, primary care offices, and offers virtual visits. Each provides a different level of care.

  • Emergency departments – For serious problems such as chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, a severe headache or a broken bone, individuals should go to the nearest emergency department or call 9-1-1.
  • Urgent care – Delivers walk-in medical treatment and specialized care for injuries or illnesses that need prompt attention within 24 hours. Sees individuals aged six months and older, and offers wound care, including stitches, on-site X-rays and EKGs.
  • Express care – Provides walk-in access for common medical issues for patients two years and older. Treats minor lacerations that do not require stitches.
  • Primary care – Primary care is the main healthcare connection for all ages. Providers can help with new, nonurgent and nonemergency health concerns or questions.
  • Virtual visits –New and returning patients can schedule a virtual primary care visit for several common problems. Available for individuals aged two or older.
