On June 28, 2026, Cleveland Clinic Children’s hosted its annual VeloSano Trike & Bike event at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, bringing together hundreds of children and families to support pediatric cancer research.
More than 500 children ages 3 to 10 rode their bikes and scooters along routes winding through the zoo. Participants included Cleveland Clinic Children’s patients, siblings, family members and friends, all united by a shared commitment to advancing research and improving outcomes for children facing cancer.
“Navigating a cancer diagnosis with your child completely changes how you look at life, what you prioritize,” says Amariliz Hambleton, mother of pediatric cancer patient Milo, age 4. “We support Trike and Bike because we want other families to have it easier. We want to ride for the kids who can’t ride. Milo didn’t have a choice to go through this, but we have a choice as parents to help others.”
Researchers whose work has been funded through VeloSano Trike & Bike grants attended the event alongside physicians, nurses and other caregivers, cheering on riders and celebrating the impact community support has on pediatric cancer research.
“This event is a powerful reminder that every child and family touched by pediatric cancer has an entire community standing behind them,” said Rabi Hanna, M.D., chair of the pediatric hematology–oncology & blood and bone marrow transplant division at Cleveland Clinic Children’s. “The funds raised through VeloSano Trike & Bike fuel innovative research that brings us closer to new treatments and better outcomes for our patients.”
In addition to the ride, families enjoyed face painting, bike decorating, carousel rides and access to several zoo exhibits. The event created a festive atmosphere while highlighting the importance of continued investment in pediatric cancer research.
Since its launch in 2018, Trike & Bike has raised more than $1.8 million to support pediatric cancer research at Cleveland Clinic Children’s, and 100% of the dollars raised fund research initiatives focused on improving treatments and advancing discoveries that benefit children with cancer.
“Trike & Bike is more than a ride. It’s a celebration of the strength, resilience and hope. Seeing patients, families, caregivers and supporters come together each year is incredibly inspiring,” said Courtney Lins, the assistant director of development programs at Cleveland Clinic. “Every rider makes a difference and helps accelerate research that brings hope to children and families facing cancer.”
