London: Cleveland Clinic London (CCL), a non-profit healthcare provider opening in 2021, will enter into a clinical partnership with The London Clinic, an internationally -renowned independent charitable hospital, to provide comprehensive oncology services to patients at their respective facilities in central London.
The partnership brings together two organisations committed to providing the highest quality patient-centered care and a seamless treatment pathway.
Surgical oncology will be a core service offered by Cleveland Clinic London, which will open an eight-storey, 325,000-square-foot building at 33 Grosvenor Place, central London in early 2022. The hospital will be preceded by Cleveland Clinic London’s first outpatient centre, at 24 Portland Place in the Harley Street Medical Area, in Autumn 2021. As part of this partnership, The London Clinic, in Harley Street, will provide medical, radiation and other oncology services to patients who have surgery at Cleveland Clinic London.
The London Clinic, the UK’s largest private charitable hospital, has a pioneering cancer treatment centre in its Duchess of Devonshire Wing. This state-of-the-art facility, spanning eight floors, achieved a five-star Quality Environment Mark in 2019 from MacMillan in 2019, which commended it for “providing the highest quality of clinical care for its users within a well-designed, arranged and safe environment.” As part of its charitable purpose, The London Clinic remains committed to technological innovation in cancer care and also offers Moving On, a free of charge survivorship programme for cancer patients.
The two organisations are working to integrate their information technology systems to be able to share patient information securely and electronically. This will enable a seamless multi-disciplinary team approach to patients with cancer, with groups of specialists overseeing each patient’s care pathway to deliver the best possible clinical outcome.
Brian Donley, MD., CEO of Cleveland Clinic London, comments: “We are excited to bring Cleveland Clinic’s doctor-led model of care to the UK, and The London Clinic is an ideal partner in providing our cancer patients with a seamless care pathway that prioritises empathy and clinical excellence.”
“Cleveland Clinic’s focus on driving research and innovation enables us to deliver the safest, most effective patient care. We are proud to be partnering with such a highly regarded provider in The London Clinic which has a similar patient-centered ethos.”
Al Russell, CEO of The London Clinic said: “We’re delighted to announce this partnership with Cleveland Clinic London. It’s an organisation that aligns with our values and interests, prioritising exceptional patient care above profit. Working together we will create integrated pathways to support huge numbers of cancer patients in the years to come, all the time learning from each other for the benefit of the patient.”
