LAS VEGAS – Keep Memory Alive will once again commemorate November with “Month of Memories,” an annual community-wide fundraising campaign in support of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month and National Family Caregiver Month.

From dining or carrying out at local restaurants to collecting small change, there are a variety of ways to raise funds to fight the devastating disease that affects many of the patients at Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, and their family and friends who serve as dedicated caregivers.

“During this time of uncertainty, our commitment to our patients and their families has remained steadfast,” said Keep Memory Alive Vice Chairwoman and Co-Founder Camille Ruvo. “The funds raised during Month of Memories are used to provide world-class care and resources to those living with Alzheimer’s right here in our community, including our free education and support programming. We’ve successfully transitioned these programs to virtual platforms, allowing us to extend our reach and bring friendship and support to patients and their families in the comfort of their own homes. We are all part of the solution and are appreciative of all supporting participants.”

Some staggering statistics:

  • Alzheimer’s disease is the only top 10 cause of death in the U.S. that cannot be prevented, cured or even slowed.
  • Alzheimer’s disease is a looming public health crisis and by 2050 will affect 13.8 million people and cost $1.1 trillion.
  • According to the Alzheimer’s Association, Nevada has the third fastest growing dementia population in the country with Alzheimer’s as the sixth leading cause of death.
  • Between now and 2025, the financial cost of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia to Medicaid in Nevada will increase 49%, from $185 million to $275 million.
