COVID-19 cases are rising throughout the country.

Cleveland Clinic Florida hospitals on the Treasure Coast – Indian River, Martin North and Tradition hospitals – are now caring for more patients with COVID-19 than any other time during this pandemic.

Cleveland Clinic Florida leaders held a press conference on Friday, August 20, to offer a transparent account of what is happening in the region.

The pandemic is impacting Cleveland Clinic Florida in three ways.

Surge In Cases
Indian River, Martin North and Tradition hospitals are seeing more than twice as many patients admitted with the virus compared to previous surges.

We are seeing more than twice as many patients admitted with COVID-19 compared to previous surges.

Encouraging Vaccination
Nearly 90% of patients admitted to Indian River, Martin North and Tradition with COVID-19 are unvaccinated. We have a way to alleviate this suffering, and that is through vaccination. We encourage everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated.

Effects On Capacity, Other Services
We have postponed nonemergent procedures at our Florida hospitals, and reduced outpatient visits at Indian River by half. Restricting these other services in order to care for COVID-19 patients means we risk not being able to care for patients when they need us.
