At Cleveland Clinic, inclusion is a core value and caring for the community is an integral part of that value.

In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, Cleveland Clinic is celebrating the rich histories, cultures and contributions of the Latinx community.

Cleveland Clinic is committed to creating healthier communities for everyone through efforts focused on healing, hiring and investing in the future.

The health system offers several programs and initiatives to support its Latinx employees and neighbors:

  • Promoting health equity: The Hispanic Clinic at Lutheran Hospital provides bilingual medical care and cultural understanding to the patients it serves. The Hispanic Clinic, which is open to all patients, focuses on primary and specialty care along with education and prevention services.
  • Community health: Established in 2021, the Center for Community Health Workers at Cleveland Clinic trains trusted community members to engage with Spanish-speaking patients. These caregivers play a crucial role as facilitators and translators, connecting individuals with needed resources.
  • Developing the local workforce: The hospital’s talent acquisition team collaborates with community partners including Esperanza, Inc. and Seeds of Literacy – nonprofit organizations dedicated to offering tutoring and mentorship opportunities to Spanish-speaking adults and youth in Northeast Ohio – to develop career exploration workshops for individuals interested in the healthcare field.
  • Caregiver support: The SALUD Hispanic/Latino employee resource group provides a network that supports the professional development of Latinx employees, increases retention and talent acquisition, and works with senior management to address concerns, provide feedback and promote growth.
  • Supplier diversity: Several local Hispanic-owned businesses are part of Cleveland Clinic’s Supplier Diversity Program, which works with qualified suppliers to increase opportunities to bid on and source products and services for the health system. At least 10% of contractors working on Cleveland Clinic's largest construction projects have self-identified as Hispanic or Latinx.
