Health center ribbon cutting

Cleveland Clinic Children’s has opened a new wellness clinic at John F. Kennedy High School in Cleveland’s Lee-Miles neighborhood.

A ribbon-cutting celebration was held inside the clinic located at 15111 Miles Ave. Rita Pappas, M.D., Interim Institute Chief of Cleveland Clinic Children’s was joined by leaders from the City of Cleveland, Cleveland Clinic, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) and MetroHealth.

“Our goal is to make care accessible where it matters most, ensuring students have the support they need to stay healthy and succeed academically,” said Dr. Pappas. “We’re proud to work with CMSD and other partners to make this vision real – because investing in children’s health is investing in Cleveland’s future."

What the Clinic Offers

Students at JFK High School now have access to:

  • Annual and sports physicals
  • Immunizations
  • Care for chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes and allergies
  • Routine lab tests and prescriptions
  • Mental and behavioral health support
  • Injury and illness care

This is the third of three school-based health centers launched in partnership with CMSD as part of the district's Integrated Health Initiative. Two additional in-school clinics are operated by MetroHealth at John Marshall High School and Anton Grdina PreK-8 School. These expansion projects were made possible by a $3 million allocation from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

Cleveland Clinic Children’s remains committed to improving the health and wellbeing of children in the communities it serves.

In 2018, the pediatric hospital opened its first in-school clinic at Lakewood High School in Lakewood, Ohio. Its mobile unit continues to service students in six school districts, including CMSD, East Cleveland, Garfield Heights, Maple Heights, Lakewood and Warrensville Heights.
