For many families in Las Vegas, maintaining a safe and welcoming home can be a challenge, especially when resources are limited. Overgrown yards, uneven sidewalks and outdated safety features can create hazards that impact both physical health and peace of mind.

That’s why caregivers from Cleveland Clinic Nevada joined forces with Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas through A Brush With Kindness (ABWK) program.

Aimed at revitalizing homes and neighborhoods, ABWK provides low to moderate income Clark County homeowners with critical and minor home repairs, as well as disability modifications at no cost to ensure homeowners can continue to live in a safe home for many years to come.

Supported by a $15,000 donation from Cleveland Clinic Nevada, the hands-on community project included clearing weeds, adjusting soil along the sidewalk for improved accessibility, capping the existing sprinkler water supply and spreading nearly 18 yards of landscape rock.

“When families have safe homes, they’re better positioned to thrive physically and mentally. Projects like this show how healthcare organizations can support our community,” said Dylan Wint, M.D., medical director of Cleveland Clinic Nevada.

Housing is a social driver of health. A secure, well-maintained home reduces risks of injury, supports mental well-being and fosters stability for families.

“This A Brush With Kindness project is a life-changing experience for a deserving family, restoring hope, dignity and the comfort of a safe home. Together with Cleveland Clinic Nevada, we are turning dreams into reality and strengthening our community – one home at a time,” said Ashley Burney, director of Resource Development & Communications at Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas. “By addressing critical home improvements, we are not only improving living conditions but also restoring a sense of pride and security that can be truly transformative. Projects like this demonstrate the power of community collaboration and compassion, reminding families in need that they are seen, supported and valued.”

Caring for the community is a long-standing priority of Cleveland Clinic. By investing in our neighborhoods, we invest in stronger, healthier communities.
