Cleveland Clinic will honor the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a virtual program during its 31st annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Celebration.

Tom Mihaljevic, M.D., Cleveland Clinic CEO and President and holder of the Morton L. Mandel CEO Chair, will emcee the event on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at 8 a.m. EST. Christopher Young, EVP of Business Development, Strategy and Ventures at Microsoft, will serve as the keynote speaker.

The program will feature a musical performance from the Cleveland Heights-based male vocal ensemble Elégie, and special remarks from Jacqui Robertson, Chief Diversity Officer at Cleveland Clinic.

The theme of this year’s event is based on a quote by Dr. King: “No greater tragedy can befall a people than to rest complacently on some past achievement. Noble yesterdays must always be challenges to more creative tomorrows.”

The virtual celebration will also include interfaith reflections on Dr. King’s legacy from LaRese Purnell, co-owner and managing partner of CLE Consulting Firm; Rabbi Susan Stone, Temple Beth Shalom of Hudson; and Rev. Louie Hendon, executive pastor at Mega Church.

The prerecorded program will last approximately 45 minutes.
