Cleveland Clinic is named among top employers on the Forbes 2023 America’s Best Employers for Diversity list.

Cleveland Clinic ranked 73 of 500 U.S. corporations across all industries and third among 50 in the healthcare and social sector.

“At Cleveland Clinic, our culture is to embrace and integrate diversity and inclusion in all that we do,” said Kelly Hancock, DNP, Chief Caregiver Officer of Cleveland Clinic, and the holder of the Rich Family Chief Caregiver Chair. “We are honored to be recognized as one of America’s best employers for diversity. It is a direct reflection of our commitment to cultivate a workplace that embraces diversity, inclusion and equity to better serve our patients.”

Forbes partnered with Statista, a market research firm, to survey more than 45,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. Participants were asked to openly and anonymously share their opinions and rate their organizations on age, gender, ethnicity, disability, LGBTQ+ equality, general diversity and other criteria.

These responses were reviewed for potential diversity gaps. Statista then asked respondents belonging to underrepresented groups to nominate organizations other than their own. The final list ranks the 500 employers that not only received the most recommendations, but also have the most diverse boards and executive ranks, and the most proactive diversity and inclusion initiatives.

“This ranking is an affirmation of Cleveland Clinic’s commitment to having an inclusion-driven culture that intentionally creates a compassionate environment of belonging where all are valued and respected,” says Jacqui Robertson, Chief of Diversity and Inclusion at Cleveland Clinic.

“We have been focused on this work, and we will continue to do so. We want our patients, caregivers and the community to feel seen, heard and respected.”

According to Forbes, last year’s list saw companies in banking and financial services rise in the rankings compared to previous years. Forbes said that trend continued this year. Other industries that performed well in the 2023 ranking include education, healthcare and social sectors and insurance, according to Forbes.
