CLEVELAND and MEXICO CITY: Cleveland Clinic and Previta will offer an international second opinion option to address patients’ medical needs.
Cleveland Clinic is a non-profit multispecialty academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. Consistently recognized as one of the world’s top hospital systems – including by Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals 2023 list – Cleveland Clinic provides patients access to a global network of physicians and specialists to provide the highest quality care, as well as world-class patient experience.
As part of Cleveland Clinic’s continued efforts to ensure greater access to quality care for patients around the world, this program will allow doctors at Previta to collaborate with leading Cleveland Clinic experts to review complex cases and create a personalized treatment plan for the patient.
“The collaboration with Previta will enable Cleveland Clinic specialists to provide peer-to-peer consults to our clinical partners and their patients in Mexico,” said Curtis Rimmerman, M.D., M.B.A, Cleveland Clinic Chairman of International Operations. “Peer-to-peer consults can be a valuable resource in complex healthcare situations. This partnership will unlock access to more than 3,500 Cleveland Clinic physicians across advanced subspecialties without the need to travel abroad.”
Previta, a Mexico-based provider of healthcare services, will be the clinical coordinator for the peer-to-peer consult process. Previta’s care team will work with the patient to collect and submit all necessary information so Cleveland Clinic physicians can appropriately review and respond.
“Quality medicine has no boundaries and medical collaboration between professionals around the world is the way of the future. Giving access to top specialists from Cleveland Clinic to our patients will improve their health outcomes,” Morgan Guerra Gea M.D., M.P.H., Previta Co-founder and CEO. “We are very excited to provide this new service that will benefit Mexican families and who knows maybe in the future all around the world.”
In November 2022, in collaboration with Previta, Cleveland Clinic accepted the appointment of Karen Chiquillo as an independent in-country representative for Mexico. Cleveland Clinic’s local representatives have in-depth knowledge of the latest clinical treatments that are available and draw on their shared language and cultural understanding to facilitate care for patients.
With 24/7 access to global patient services, the in-country representatives can connect patients to Cleveland Clinic care available at locations across the United States, in Toronto, Canada; London, U.K.; and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
In-country representatives also can arrange second opinions where available and follow-up appointments, as well as in-person treatment at the most convenient Cleveland Clinic hospital, complete with travel arrangements for patients and their families.
Cleveland Clinic has been awarded “Accreditation with Excellence” for its medical travel services by Global Healthcare Accreditation.
