Four Cleveland Clinic hospitals – Akron General, Fairview, Hillcrest and main campus – were recognized among the top maternity hospitals in the latest edition of Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2024.

“We are proud to be recognized among the best maternity hospitals in the nation,” said Edward Chien, MD, MBA, chairman of Cleveland Clinic’s Ob/Gyn Department. “This recognition is a testament to our commitment to providing high-quality prenatal, labor and delivery, and post-partum care to our patients and their families.”

Each year, Cleveland Clinic providers in Ohio are involved in more than 10,000 births. The America’s Best Maternity Hospitals ratings are based on three data sources:

  • Recommendations from medical experts – hospital managers and maternity healthcare professionals with knowledge about maternity processes – who were invited to participate in an online survey.
  • Key hospital performance indicators relevant to maternity care, including cesarean birth, exclusive breast-milk feeding, perinatal care and unexpected newborn complications.
  • Patient satisfaction data, including general satisfaction with the hospital and its medical staff’s responsiveness and communication.

In another Newsweek ranking released in April, Cleveland Clinic ranked No. 4 among America’s Best Fertility Clinics.

"This recognition is a testament to the amazing teamwork across all of our staff,” said Mindy Christianson, MD, MBA, Section Chief of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Cleveland Clinic. “From the technical expertise of our embryology lab to the compassionate care provided by our clinicians, everyone plays a key role."

The America’s Best Fertility Clinics ranking is based on four different sources:

  • An online survey of medical professionals working in the field of fertility.
  • An analysis of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) quality metrics published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
  • Accreditation data on the fertility clinics.
  • Patient satisfaction based on Google reviews.
