Cleveland Clinic to Extend Hours for Surgeries, Specialty Appointments at Many Northeast Ohio Locations

Patients will be able to schedule outpatient specialty appointments and elective surgeries most evenings and Saturdays at multiple Ohio locations

CLEVELAND: Cleveland Clinic is extending its hours for outpatient specialty appointments, as well as elective surgeries and procedures, to include most evenings and Saturdays at certain Northeast Ohio locations. These additional hours are based on patient feedback and are designed to help individuals receive care when it's most convenient for them and their families.

Starting July 7, many Cleveland Clinic locations in Northeast Ohio will be open for primary care and specialty appointments until 8 p.m. ET Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Specialties will include digestive disease, cardiology, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and more. Scheduling for these new appointments will open next week. Many primary care adult and pediatric providers already provide care during evening and weekends, at multiple locations across our health system.

In addition, Cleveland Clinic is extending the hours of its surgical services, offering certain outpatient surgeries and procedures on Saturdays. This will begin on July 26 at Lutheran Hospital. Avon Hospital, Beachwood Ambulatory Surgery Center and Twinsburg Ambulatory Surgery Center will add Saturday procedures and operations in August. Surgical services will include urology, digestive disease, orthopaedics, and gynecology, among others.

“We are pleased to be offering these extended service times. We recognize patients are busy and have many responsibilities throughout the week,” said Scott Steele, M.D., President of Main Campus, who oversees Cleveland Clinic’s Family Health Centers. “Traditional appointment times may not work for everyone, potentially resulting in delays in care. These extended hours will help us meet the needs of the communities we serve and provide patients more options for accessing our care.”

Specialties and appointment availability will continue to be added to both outpatient and surgical services throughout the summer and fall.

“We are committed to making healthcare more accessible, and this decision was based on feedback from our patients” said James Gutierrez, M.D., Chief of Cleveland Clinic’s Primary Care Institute. “By expanding our hours, we’re ensuring that individuals and families can receive the care they need at times that best fit their schedules. This is a step forward in our mission to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve.”

These new options add to the ways in which patients can access Cleveland Clinic care. Cleveland Clinic offers in-person and virtual visits as well as walk-in urgent, express and emergency care 7 days a week.
