Kavitha Subramanian, M.D.
DOVER: Cleveland Clinic has named Kavitha Subramanian, M.D., SFHM, as Vice President and Chief Medical Officer (VP/CMO) of Union Hospital, effective Oct. 14, 2025.
Dr. Subramanian is a hospitalist at Cleveland Clinic Akron General for Sound Physicians, which also provides hospitalist care at Union and several other Cleveland Clinic hospitals. She currently serves as the Division Chief of Hospital Medicine for Sound, as well as the System Medical Director for Hospital Medicine for Union, Akron General and Mercy hospitals.
“Dr. Subramanian has provided empathetic care in leadership roles over many years at Akron General. Her dedication to caregivers and patients is noteworthy, and we are fortunate to have her take the top leadership position at Union Hospital,” said Teri Lash-Ritter, M.D., president of Cleveland Clinic Akron General and Cleveland Clinic’s South Submarket, which includes Medina and Union hospitals. “She will ensure that Union Hospital continues to grow and meet the needs of the Tuscarawas Valley community.”
She recently completed a term as Chief of Staff at Akron General and has served as the Medical Director for Sound Physicians at Akron General since 2015. She previously served as the Vice Chief of Staff at Akron General from 2021-23 and was Co-Chief Hospitalist from 2014-15.
Dr. Subramanian earned her medical degree from Madurai Medical College at the Tamil Nadu MGR Medical University in India, and completed a residency in internal medicine at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
She replaces Thomas Rogers, M.D., who was appointed to the same position (VP/CMO) at Medina Hospital in June.
