Cleveland Clinic has appointed Miguel Regueiro, M.D., as Executive Vice President and Enterprise Chief of Staff, effective June 1. Dr. Regueiro will report directly to Tom Mihaljevic, M.D., Cleveland Clinic CEO and President and Morton L. Mandel CEO Chair.

In this role, Dr. Regueiro will help shape Cleveland Clinic’s clinical strategy and lead a global community of more than 6,000 physicians and 4,000 advanced practice providers across the health system. He succeeds Beri Ridgeway, M.D., who will begin her new role as President of Cleveland Clinic London.

Following an internal search, Dr. Regueiro was selected for his collaborative leadership style, clinical expertise and commitment to advancing patient care, research and innovation across the enterprise.

“Miguel is a highly respected physician leader whose experience, vision and dedication to patients and caregivers make him exceptionally well suited for this important role,” said Dr. Mihaljevic. “He has consistently demonstrated the ability to lead with compassion, inspire teams and advance innovation that improves care for patients around the world. I look forward to partnering with him as we continue shaping the future of healthcare.”

Dr. Regueiro has served as Chief of Cleveland Clinic’s Digestive Disease Institute since 2021 and holds the inaugural Melody and Steve Golding Chair for Digestive Diseases.

An internationally recognized expert in inflammatory bowel disease, Dr. Regueiro’s research and clinical contributions have helped shape modern approaches to the treatment of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. His work in the management of post-operative Crohn’s disease is now considered a global standard of care.

“It is an honor to serve Cleveland Clinic in this new role and continue working alongside extraordinary caregivers across our global health system,” said Dr. Regueiro. “Cleveland Clinic’s commitment to innovation, collaboration and compassionate care is unmatched, and I look forward to helping advance our mission to provide the best possible outcomes and experience for patients everywhere.”

Dr. Regueiro earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and completed his gastroenterology training at Beth Israel Hospital, affiliated with Harvard Medical School.

Before joining Cleveland Clinic in 2018, Dr. Regueiro spent nearly 20 years on faculty at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he served as Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center.

Dr. Regueiro will continue leading the Digestive Disease Institute until an interim chair is named. Cleveland Clinic will begin a national search for his successor.
