Cleveland Clinic London Appoints Dr Heather Shaw as Oncology Vice Chief

Cleveland Clinic London has appointed Dr Heather Shaw as Oncology Vice Chief, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to expanding access to advanced, multidisciplinary cancer care in the United Kingdom.

Dr Shaw will lead oncology strategy and service development across Cleveland Clinic London. She will work with clinical and operational leaders to expand oncology services, recruit leading specialists, advance research and innovation, and develop integrated models of care. The new oncology centre at 40 Grosvenor Place in Belgravia will offer one of the most comprehensive cancer programmes in the UK independent healthcare market and is anticipated to open at the end of 2027.

An internationally recognised oncologist, Dr Shaw is known for her expertise in melanoma therapies, immunotherapy and developing novel cancer therapies. In addition to her role at Cleveland Clinic London, she is a consultant medical oncologist and leads the Medical Oncology Skin Cancer Service at University College London Hospital and is a consultant medical oncologist at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, having recently stepped down as Deputy Medical Director to take up her new role at Cleveland Clinic London. She also leads several international clinical studies focused on advancing cancer care.

The centre will offer immunotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapies and radiotherapy through coordinated teams focused on achieving the best outcomes for patients. Patients will also benefit from Cleveland Clinic's global cancer network of more than 800 physicians, researchers, nurses and technicians, providing access to clinical trials, precision medicine, molecular profiling and emerging therapies.

Dr Shaw’s clinical and research interests include melanoma and other skin cancers, rare cancers including ocular melanoma, immunotherapy, and the development of novel cancer treatments. She is a chief investigator and national coordinating investigator for multiple international studies involving cellular, immunotherapy and vaccine-based therapies, including the recent international phase 3 study of an individualised mRNA cancer therapy in the adjuvant treatment of melanoma, which met its primary endpoint.
