From the Dean’s Desk | Join Me in Welcoming the Class of 2026

J. Harry Isaacson, MD

This month, we introduce you to our 32 newest students, the Class of 2026, who have joined the CCLCM and Cleveland Clinic families. We look forward not only to guiding them on their journey as they work to become exceptional physician investigators, but also to engaging them in helping to make CCLCM an even better place to learn and grow. I encourage you to read more about these remarkable young people.

I also want to sincerely thank the CCLCM staff and faculty who devote significant time and energy every year to orienting each new class of students. Planning and executing orientation week, which culminates in the venerable tradition of the White Coat Ceremony, is a colossal undertaking and wouldn’t be possible without the extraordinary effort and dedication of our colleagues.

As we continue to navigate the ever-evolving COVID-19 pandemic, CCLCM is committed to holding weekly Town Halls every Monday from 7:30 to 8 a.m., as we have been since the pandemic began. These Town Halls serve two important purposes: one, to share CCLCM-related news, and, two, to keep our colleagues and students informed about COVID-19. Special thanks to Dr. Neil Mehta who shares the latest COVID-19 research and helps us understand the science behind the virus.

Once the pandemic began, our faculty and students moved swiftly to make a positive difference for Cleveland Clinic patients, each other and the surrounding community. I encourage you to take a look at how CCLCM rose to the challenge of COVID-19, including a timeline of key events from both a world and CCLCM standpoint.

We all want the pandemic to end, and we have safe, efficacious vaccines to help us get there. If you are hesitant about receiving your free vaccination, I strongly encourage you to speak with your doctor. We have much to lose if we allow the pandemic to thrive, but we have much to gain, including the ability to safely resume social activities, by finally putting an end to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Executive Dean
