Alice Kim, M.D., MBA, Named to Lead Cleveland Clinic Marymount Hospital

Infectious disease specialist previously spent more than 20 years at Cleveland Clinic in a variety of leadership roles

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio: Cleveland Clinic has named Alice Kim, M.D., MBA, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer (VP/CMO) of Marymount Hospital, effective Sept. 15, 2025. This is the top leadership role at the hospital.

Dr. Kim is returning to Cleveland Clinic after serving as the President and Chief Executive Officer of ID Care, LLC, in New Jersey, the largest infectious disease group practice on the East Coast and the second largest in the United States.

“We are delighted to have Dr. Kim return to Cleveland Clinic to lead Marymount Hospital,” said Brian Harte, M.D., president of Hillcrest and Mentor hospitals and the Cleveland Clinic East submarket. “She is a proven leader who is highly skilled in implementing important strategic initiatives and improvements that benefit our patients and our caregivers.”

Prior to her role with ID Care, Dr. Kim spent more than 20 years at Cleveland Clinic and held various clinical and administrative positions. Her appointments included staff physician in the Department of Infectious Disease and Center for Connected Care and as a leader in enterprise medical and regional operations. Dr. Kim was the clinical leader for the construction and clinical operations planning for Mentor Hospital, which opened in July 2023.

Dr. Kim was the enterprise operational leader overseeing strategy development and implementation to address COVID-19 and mpox outbreaks.

Additionally, Dr. Kim served as medical director, chief of the medical staff and a member of the board of directors for Select Specialty Hospitals and Cleveland Clinic Rehabilitation Hospitals. She also was a clinical assistant professor of medicine at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, a program of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

She earned her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University and completed her residency at Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Kim holds a master’s degree in business administration from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Akron.

Margaret McKenzie, M.D., MS, FACOG, who has been the Vice President at Marymount and South Pointe hospitals, will begin serving as VP/CMO at South Pointe on Aug. 1. Douglas O. Kohler, M.D., has served as Chief Medical Officer at Marymount Hospital for more than 10 years in addition to his clinical practice, with his overall service to the hospital being 27 years.
