Luis Marcelo Argote-Greene MD

Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital is proud to welcome Luis Marcelo Argote-Greene, MD, as Regional Director of Thoracic and Esophageal Surgery.

After completing Thoracic Surgery and Thoracic Oncology Clinical Fellowships at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, Dr. Argote-Greene returned to National Institute of Health Sciences and Nutrition Salvador Zubirán in Mexico City where he previously trained in General Surgery. He earned his medical degree at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Before returning to Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Argote-Greene was the Chief of Thoracic Surgery and Professor of the Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery Program.

His interest in patient outcomes and quality of care led Dr. Argote-Greene to become involved in an Executive Healthcare Master of Business Administration at George Washington University in Washington, DC.

“Our main focus is to serve the patient with highest standards of evidence based and humane care, close to home,” says Dr. Argote-Greene.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, Dr. Argote-Greenewas a thoracic surgeon with University Hospitals in Ohio and Clinical Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University.

Dr. Argote-Greene specializes in the treatment of: lung cancer; esophageal cancer; mediastinal tumors; thymoma; benign and malignant diseases of the pleura; mesothelioma; chest wall tumors and reconstruction; and airway reconstruction. He has co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and holds professional memberships in the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He is also a reviewer for national and international peer reviewed medical and surgical journals.
