Contribute to the CCLCM Medical Humanities Journal, Stethos

Photo of road marked recovery

Submissions are now open for the 13th issue of Stethos, the medical humanities journal of the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Stethos provides a wonderful forum to showcase the incredible diversity and creativity of our students, faculty and colleagues. The editors are seeking submissions of prose (short fiction, reflective writing, personal narrative, essays), poetry, artwork and photography.

Submissions may be about any medicine-related topic or reflection. If you have a question about a specific topic, please reach out and ask.

These past few years have been difficult and tumultuous, and although COVID-19 is still with us, we are entering a new period of hope and healing. For this year’s issue, we are hoping you will send us your submissions inspired by this new era of Recovery, a time of reflecting on our old wounds as well as those moments of respite and rejuvenation. We welcome submissions speaking to recovery from illness, recovery of identities or relationships, and recovery from a pandemic and how our world has changed. Recovery is neither always linear, nor pleasant; we seek to understand the authentic experiences of our community and share them so we can all take part in a collective healing.

View previous issues of Stethos to see examples of pieces that were published in the past.

The deadline for submissions has been extended to April 1, 2023. View the submission guidelines.

Please contact Editors-in-Chief Maeve Pascoe (pascoem2@ccf.org) or Chichi Onwubueke (onwubuc@ccf.org), or any of the Stethos editors (cclcmhumanities@gmail.com) with questions.
