Cleveland Clinic announced the appointment of Robert Lorenz, M.D. as President of Cleveland Clinic London, effective June 1.

Dr. Lorenz has served Cleveland Clinic for more than 20 years. After completing his residency at Cleveland Clinic in 2002, Dr. Lorenz was appointed a staff physician and later section head of Head and Neck Surgery, where he built his career as a surgeon, innovator and educator.

“As both a clinician and an executive, Dr. Lorenz has a track record of driving value, growth and innovation,” said Tom Mihaljevic, M.D., Cleveland Clinic CEO and President and Morton L. Mandel CEO Chair. “In London, he will continue to advance our mission and culture, expand the services that we offer and further our collaboration with the NHS.”

Since 2020, Dr. Lorenz has served as executive medical director of Market and Network Services. In this role, Dr. Lorenz has been responsible for the clinical aspects of Cleveland Clinic’s government and commercial contracts.

In prior roles, Dr. Lorenz was medical director of Specialty Contracting, and he also led efforts to accurately document the complexity of our care. Before that, he served as Chief Medical Officer of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi during the early years of construction, from 2008 to 2011. While in Abu Dhabi, he earned an Executive MBA with distinction from the London Business School.

“The team at Cleveland Clinic London has established an outstanding reputation for the quality of care and services they are providing patients. I am excited to join the team and continue that focus on high quality care, while leading accelerated growth,” said Dr. Lorenz. “The opportunities in expanding research and education are truly impactful to those we serve. I am grateful to be part of this amazing team.”

Portland Place is a six-floor, 28,000-square-foot building with 17 consultations rooms. Cleveland Clinic London is preparing a second outpatient location to open in autumn 2023.

Dr. Lorenz succeeds Tomasso Falcone, M.D., who has served as interim President of Cleveland Clinic London since October 2022, when former President and CEO Brian Donley, M.D. resigned. Dr. Falcone will return to his prior role of Chief of Staff and Chief Academic Officer for Cleveland Clinic London, and will support Dr. Lorenz during the transition.
