Cleveland Clinic London today announces the appointment of consultant orthopaedic surgeons Mr Paul Trikha and Mr Sam Rajaratnam. These appointments strengthen the organisation’s capabilities and expertise within orthopaedics and follow the continued expansion of Cleveland Clinic London across the UK healthcare market.
Mr Rajaratnam is an internationally renowned consultant orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in knee replacement surgery and sporting injuries of the knee.
His areas of surgical interest include knee replacement surgery (full, partial and complex revision implants), rapid recovery and faster return to function, reducing pain after knee replacement surgery and robotic joint surgery. He also has a keen interest in soft tissue knee reconstruction, treating many high-profile patients who have knee ligament and cartilage injuries.
Mr Rajaratnam has performed over 5800 knee replacements throughout his career, with leading outcomes on the National Joint registry and amongst the lowest revision rates in the UK. He is an international authority on robotic knee replacement surgery and was the first surgeon to implement ROSA Robotic technology in the UK within the private sector.
Mr Rajaratnam trained at Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospitals in London and qualified with a First-Class degree in anatomy and an MBBS in 1997.
His higher surgical training was via the Royal College of Surgeons, England, having been awarded the Walter-Mercer Gold medal in orthopaedics by the combined Royal Colleges in 2006, and was appointed as a consultant knee surgeon in 2008.
Mr Rajaratnam was Director of Orthopaedics at the Schoen Clinic, London from 2018-2023.

Mr Paul Trikha is a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon specialising exclusively in knee surgery. He is a leading expert in sports and ski injuries. He focuses on the surgical treatment and management of knee problems in young adults as well as sports-related injuries and early to advanced knee arthritis. He leads a comprehensive specialist knee service for patella (kneecap) problems and knee preserving / replacement surgery including total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and the new robotic knee replacements. Mr Trikha is committed to employing the latest techniques and technologies in his clinical practice – including minimally invasive surgery, stem cell treatments, and hyaluronic acid injection therapy – and is active in medical research and teaching.
Mr Trikha qualified from St George’s Hospital, London and completed his postgraduate orthopaedic training in London and Southeast England. In addition, he completed a fellowship at the internationally renowned North Sydney Orthopaedics Sports Medicine Centre in Australia. Mr Trikha joins Cleveland Clinic London from and continues to practice at the Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
