People landscaping during clean up event

On April 13, Cleveland Clinic joined forces with Fairfax Renaissance Development Corporation to hold a community clean-up initiative in Cleveland’s Fairfax neighborhood.

More than 30 volunteers from both organizations, Case Western Reserve University, H&M Landscaping, Meijer and the local community joined in the day of service.

Armed with gloves, garbage bags and gardening tools, volunteers got their hands dirty cleaning empty lots along Quincy Avenue between 85th and 87th Streets.

During the four-hour event, volunteers pruned tree branches, removed weeds, picked up litter and mowed overgrown grass. Several truckloads of vegetation and over 20 bags of litter, concrete and other debris were removed from the lots.

Cleveland Clinic and Fairfax Renaissance Development Corporation collaborate on community clean-up initiatives in the Fairfax neighborhood throughout the year. For more information on future volunteer opportunities, please call 216.361.8400.
