Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital in Florida

Amre Nouh, MD, who serves as Chair of Neurology for Cleveland Clinic in Florida, has been elected to serve as Chair of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Stroke and Vascular Neurology Section. Dr. Nouh begins his two-year term in April 2025.

“We are proud to recognize Dr. Nouh in his extended role with the American Academy of Neurology,” says Conor Delaney, MD, Executive Vice President of Cleveland Clinic and President of the Cleveland Clinic Florida Market. “Dr. Nouh brings a wealth of knowledge in the field of neurology and his collaborative spirit allows him to lead by example while working harmoniously with others, much like the invaluable contributions he has made over the years – and continues to make – to our caregivers, patients and organization.”

In his role with AAN, the world’s largest association of neurologists and neuroscience professionals, Dr. Nouh will lead the online SynapseSMcommunity on stroke and vascular neurology, fostering new and collaborative opportunities for its members.

“I am deeply grateful to Cleveland Clinic for allowing me the opportunity to continue serving as a global leader for cerebrovascular disease,” says Dr. Nouh, also a Professor of Neurology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. “Over the next two years, I will prioritize advocacy for patients and caregivers, focusing on ways we can improve access to research, education and treatment, while ensuring my peers remain well-informed, supported and empowered.”

Over the years, Dr. Nouh has recruited top-notch neurologists from across the country to advance clinical care and research for the Institute. Prior to Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Nouh held various leadership roles. He most recently served as Chair of the Northeast Cerebrovascular Consortium, System Director of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease at Hartford Healthcare, a seven acute care hospital system in Connecticut, as well as Stroke Director of Hartford Hospital and Vascular Neurology Fellowship Director. Dr. Nouh is a fellow of the American Heart Association, member of the National AHA Stroke Council, and lead author and Vice-Chair of the AHA Scientific Statement on Best Practice Recommendations for In-Hospital Stroke. He has authored and co-authored more than 100 publications and has presented globally on stroke and cerebrovascular disease.
