CLEVELAND and RIYADH: Cleveland Clinic, a global healthcare leader headquartered in the United States, and King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSHRC) and Qiddiya Investment Company, both based in Saudi Arabia, announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a framework for collaboration in sports medicine and sports performance services at Qiddiya City.
The three organizations plan to explore joint efforts across clinical, operational, educational and research fields related to sports medicine and performance, with a specific focus in Saudi Arabia.
“This collaboration allows us to come together around a shared commitment to health, innovation and community development,” said Tom Mihaljevic, MD, President and CEO and Morton C. Mandel CEO Chair of Cleveland Clinic. “Cleveland Clinic is redefining the standards of sports performance, human performance and wellness through our commitment to innovation and research in this area of healthcare. Through collaboration, we have the opportunity to positively impact more lives.”
“This partnership offers a unique opportunity to harness global expertise in sports medicine to deliver transformative health solutions for athletes and the wider community in the Kingdom,” said Dr. Majid AlFayyadh, CEO of KFSHRC.
“We are proud to partner with two world-renowned healthcare institutions,” said Abdullah Al Dawood, Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company. “This collaboration strengthens our ability to provide cutting-edge medical services that support athletes, visitors, and the broader community, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.”
The combined discussions will cover a broad range of topics, including athlete recovery, longevity, performance, and more. As part of this initiative, each organization will appoint dedicated project teams focused on these key areas. These teams will meet on an ad hoc basis to develop the framework for collaboration and to jointly assess and prioritize future projects or opportunities.
Qiddiya city is one of Saudi Arabia’s flagship giga-projects, designed to transform the entertainment, sports, and cultural sectors. This initiative reflects the organizations’ shared commitment to advancing the science and practice of sports medicine for the benefit of athletes and the broader sports community.
