Hospital earns its fourth Lantern Award from the Emergency Nurses Association
Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital’s Emergency Department has earned the 2026 Lantern Award from the Emergency Nurses Association, a national recognition for emergency departments that demonstrate excellence in quality, safety, innovation and evidence-based emergency care.
The Lantern Award recognizes emergency departments that excel in areas such as leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research, as well as operational improvements that strengthen patient care and support nursing teams. The Emergency Nurses Association announced that a record-breaking 126 emergency departments earned recognition for the 2026-2029 period, including Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital, which received the award for the fourth time.
“Earning the Lantern Award again is a meaningful recognition of the work our emergency department caregivers do every day for patients and their families,” said Debbie Riggs, MSN, RN, director of Emergency Services at Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital. “It reflects their commitment to timely, safe and compassionate care, and their focus on using data, innovation and evidence-based practices to keep improving the emergency care experience.”
To be considered for the Lantern Award, emergency departments submit a comprehensive application that is reviewed by a committee. Applications measure how departments address complex challenges such as emergency department boarding, timely stroke care, pediatric readiness, nurse professional development and other initiatives that improve outcomes for patients and caregivers.
With 42 private rooms and 10 fast-track bays, the Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital Emergency Department is open 24/7 with care by providers from more than 55 specialties.
With this recognition, Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital joins the following Florida Market hospitals that have earned the Lantern Award: Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital (2025-2028), Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital (2025-2028) and Cleveland Clinic Martin South Hospital (2024-2027).
