STUART, Fla.: Claude Jones, DO, was recently appointed Medical Director for the Primary Care Institute at Cleveland Clinic Martin Health.
With a distinguished career in healthcare, Dr. Jones brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Addiction Medicine, and Healthcare Quality. In addition to his medical degree, his academic pursuits have earned him a Master’s Degree in Public Health and a Master of Science in Law and Policy from Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Jones has a strong background in public health, having served as Medical Executive Director of the Lake and Putnam County Health Departments in Central Florida, where he provided oversight in various medical and health areas. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic, he was the President and CEO of Care Alliance Health Center in Cleveland Ohio, where he focused on high-quality, patient-centric care. During his time at Care Alliance, he boosted productivity by 10% and improved patient and caregiver satisfaction by more than 90%. The organization saw a reduction in employee turnover from 40% to less than 4% during his tenure.
His commitment to public health is evident in his appointments to the National Advisory Council for the National Health Service Corps by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Environmental Health Professionals Advisory Board by the Florida Surgeon General.
Dr. Jones' professional highlights include a Health Policy Fellowship in Washington, D.C., with a research focus on payment models for medical providers and health policy. He has been recognized for his leadership and contributions to healthcare, including being named one of Northeast Ohio’s Smart 50 Top Executives, and South Florida’s Most Powerful & Influential Professionals in Business and Industry.
“Through the challenges facing healthcare today, it’s important we take steps to make it easier for physicians and caregivers to perform their jobs efficiently – this bolsters patient satisfaction and enhances the level of medical services we’re able to provide our community,” Dr. Jones said.
“With top primary care providers, specialists and ancillary services within our system, Cleveland Clinic creates improved access while continuing to provide quality care.”
Dr. Jones applies the resilience he learned while playing with a championship college football team at the University of Miami. “Football taught me about teamwork, discipline and perseverance,” Dr. Jones said. “I went to medical school when I was 30 years old and found that the lessons I had learned carried me through life’s challenges and inspired me to give back.”
A family doctor encouraged Dr. Jones to pursue a career in medicine. Growing up in South Florida, healthcare access was not always easy. Today, Dr. Jones has a passion for healthcare access and equity: “I want to be part of the solution and find innovative ways to open doors to quality healthcare for everyone in the community. It’s a privilege to serve the community and be part of a global health system poised to change healthcare delivery close to home.”
